My photographic vision and style is greatly influenced by the many roles I serve in my life: a child of God, an artist, a grateful wife, and a mama to two lovely children. I didn’t truly understand what love was until I myself become a mother, then I keep experiencing, on a daily basis, what it means to be patient, to be kind, not envying, not boasting, not being proud, but always protecting, always trusting, always hoping, and always persevering (1 Corinthians 13:4,7). A mother’s love is the greatest love a human can give.
Motherhood changes everything. I graduated from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston with a Ph.D. in Genes & Development and have since worked as a researcher. In 2015, I decided to retire from my full-time job in order to focus more on my family and my photography business. I live in Houston, Texas, a place I’ve called home since I married my sweet husband in 2005.
I love capturing the pure joy and beauty of motherhood and newborns. I still remember the moment my baby was first brought to me: tears flooded my eyes, a special bond sparkled between us, and a unique place in my heart secured. My children are the most selfless and precious gift from God (Psalm 127:3). Oh how I wish to treasure them forever! I established Teresa Yiu Photography with simple elegance in mind, infusing soft light, little details, and natural expression in narrating your baby’s story. My hope is that, one day, when your children flip through these fine art albums, they can know how much they have been loved and treasured, from the moment their mama was pregnant.
